Better Together truly believes that the value of welcoming social spaces cannot be overstated. Indeed the importance of people being able to get together in a relaxed social space in market towns and villages across Norfolk is sometimes overlooked.
It can connect people who would otherwise never meet, and provide much needed support and encouragement to embrace their community in the company of others. Sometimes that first step is the hardest to make.
However, as the following poem demonstrates, providing a welcoming social space can change the way people feel about their place in the community.
This is a short poem written by a young woman Kim, who attends one of our coffee groups:
The person within, The heart inside
Longing for connection, Far and wide.
That empty feeling, A soul that longs
Wanting the closeness, To feel like “belongs”
Take that step out, Just give it a try
The warmth and acceptance, Is yours for a “HI”
