Look back on Loneliness Awareness Week

Loneliness Awareness Week took place from 13th to 17th June this year. During the week, Better Together offered two “craft-along” workshops online on Zoom.

The workshops were aimed at people who might not have the opportunity to attend face-to-face workshops. Our tutor, Julie Filmer, who facilitated them, demonstrated how to make cards using a few simple techniques and everyday items often found around the home.

People who participated were provided with a set of instructions, example ideas, and templates that could be used during the session or in their own time at home after the workshop The skills learnt during the workshop can also be transferred onto other forms of art.

Initiatives like this are key to Better Together’s efforts to tackle social isolation across Norwich, Great Yarmouth, South Norfolk and Broadland.

One participant ,who took part in the project over Loneliness Awareness Week, said:

“It has been an inspiring workshop that has given me so many ideas to try using my watercolour pencils!”
